Peter Tillessen was born in the Black Forest. He first studied Agronomics at Christian Albrecht University in Kiel and later Photography at F.A.M.U (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts) in Prague and at ZHDK (Zurich University of the Arts) in Zurich. After a decade of commercial photography, he returned to his artistic endeavours in 2012.

He lives and works between Aberdeen and Palermo.
